Issue 1: Welcome

If you’ve been wondering what the heck I’ve been up to lately (annnnnd even if you haven't), well buckle up... because I have LOTS of excitement to share!

But before I dish the deets, I want you to give a heartfelt THANK YOU for being part of my Hue La La crew! When I first launched the Hue La La blog almost 10 years ago (GULP), my goal was to share DIY tips and décor inspiration that illustrated my personal design philosophy:

“Great style has little to do with how much you spend, but rather how creative you can be with your budget.”

Which brings me to today! Huesday... I mean, Tuesday!

Nearly 10 years later, Hue La La has become so much more than just a blog! In only a few short weeks, our new website is launching which will be FULL of tutorials, project ideas, and resources to help you tackle your own design transformations. AND, I’m busting at the seams with excitement to share that my long awaited online shop will be going live at the same time, so stay tuned for more details including the official launch date. But probably my most exciting piece of news to share is the grand opening of my new Hue La La Studio Showroom... *CONFETTI TOSS*

Last summer, I launched my little pink pop-up shop that I was hoping would be a fun little side hobby. At the time, I could have never imagined the success and outpouring of support that followed, and it reignited my dream of having my own retail shop!

Now, let me take you on a quick trip down memory lane...

When I was 16 years old, I landed my dream job working at the cutest little decor shop in Burlington, ON called The Whippletree. It was owned by a lovely husband and wife duo, and I got to work with a beautiful group of woman who taught me the retail ropes and true meaning of customer service. It was there that I fell in love with decor and would often stand behind the counter daydreaming about one day having my own shop.

I’ve carried that dream with me ever since, and after having time during the pandemic to pause and think about what lights my heart on fire, I decided to chase it!

SIDE NOTE:

Have you ever watched the movie “You’ve Got Mail” with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks? The opening scene follows Meg as she leaves her New York City apartment on a crisp fall day to walk to “The Shop Around the Corner” ...her little bookstore. On the way, she stops at a Starbucks for a fancy coffee and then an outdoor market to buy a pumpkin for her shop counter. That scene has always given my heart the melty feels, and THAT... THAT was my dream! To have my own little local shop around some corner, but substitute adorably affordable decor for books! And THAT dream has now come true!

I’ll be opening the doors in early November for appointment only shopping, but until then, I wanted to share a quick sneak peek inside...

And my last (but not least) little sliver of news...

THIS email is the very first edition of my new weekly newsletter called
